Product shape and wax type move together. A candle that burns inside a glass jar needs a wax you can melt, pour, and wick. A decorative refill that never touches a flame needs no melting and no wick. A transparent candle with objects inside needs a gel that holds them in place. Fix the shape first, and the base nearly chooses itself. Soy wax: the base for candles that burn in a vessel
Soy wax is the workhorse for products that burn inside a container: scented jar candles, tumbler candles, and molded pieces. POSISION's soy is 100% pure soybean wax in fine 58°C (136°F) granules. Soy fits a brand that:
- Runs melting equipment, a pour line, and space for candles to cure.
- Can test wicks, because wick choice follows vessel diameter and oil load, and every new vessel needs a test run.
- Wants a 100% soy label and can back it with batch COAs.
- Knows molded soy is a blend job: roughly 30% soft soy wax, or a firmer wax such as beeswax or paraffin, for clean release.
Cost structure: wax, fragrance, wick, vessel, and labor, plus testing and cure time before a unit is sellable. If you already run a pour line, adding soy is incremental. If you start from zero, budget for equipment before you budget for wax.

Sand wax: no melter, no wick, no second pour
Sand wax is a natural plant wax formed into pearl granules with a matte, sandy texture. Its melt point is deliberately low: the pearls warm without turning liquid, so nothing is poured and nothing is wicked. A tealight or a warmer lamp does the work, and when the customer wants a new look, the same glass vase is refilled with fresh pearls—no wick trimming, no melted-wax cleanup, no repour.
Sand wax suits a brand that:
- Sells refillable vase candles and décor lines, where the glass sells once and the pearls are rebought.
- Has no melter, pour station, or wick lab.
- Sells on color, because batch color is consistent and OEM colors can be matched to the packaging.
- Wants a higher-spec finish—request the carnauba-palm (Copernicia prunifera) grade of sand wax on quotation.
Supply chain stays simple: one pearl SKU per color instead of a wax-plus-wick-plus-vessel matrix, and no cure time between production and shipping. Order sand wax pearls by color, and ask for the carnauba-palm (Copernicia prunifera) option when you quote.
Jelly wax: the transparent base that shows its work
Jelly wax is a translucent gel, and the numbers come straight from the spec sheet: melt point 68°C, solidification point 56°C, flash point 230°C, and a density range of 0.83 to 0.96. It takes dye in red, orange, yellow, green, blue, or purple. Because the gel stays transparent, you can pour colored layers and embed objects inside a single candle; an object floats, sinks, or hangs depending on how its density compares with that 0.83–0.96 range, so test each object before you commit a design. Clear glass containers are the point of the product—opaque vessels hide the layering. Jelly wax ships in 25 kg bags.
Production is a heating job only. Melt at a controlled temperature far below the 230°C flash point, pour a layer, let it cool to its 56°C solidification point, then pour the next color or place the next embed. It is slower than a single-pour soy candle, and the skill is temperature patience rather than wick math.
Jelly wax fits display and gift lines where the inside of the candle is the product. Specify jelly wax by melt point and density, and request the six-color dye set with your first order so you can test every color in one batch.
Paraffin and beeswax: the comparison in neutral terms
Search results put paraffin and beeswax next to soy, so here is the neutral version. POSISION does not supply paraffin or beeswax; these notes are industry context you can check with any wax distributor.
- Paraffin is a petroleum-derived wax. If you compare paraffin with soy side by side, the practical differences are cost per kilo, hardness at room temperature, and the ingredient line on your label. Paraffin pours hard and carries scent well, and it remains a standard base across much of the industry. Some retail customers now read ingredients and prefer plant-based bases; that is a positioning decision for your label, not a quality judgment.
- Beeswax is natural, carries a mild honey scent, and sells at a higher price. It is often blended rather than used alone because of that cost.
