Private label scented candles are finished candles made under your brand — your jar, your label, your fragrance and your box, delivered filled and shelf-ready. POSISION produces them in our own plant in Henan, China, from the soy wax we make for our raw-material buyers, which means the wax, the fragrance and the finished candle all come from one QC system instead of three suppliers. This page covers what a private label order actually delivers and what you have to decide before it starts.

What does a private label candle order deliver?

You receive a finished, retail-ready candle: the wax is blended and poured, the wick is sized and tested, the glass is filled and lidded, your label is applied and the unit is boxed. Nothing is left for you to assemble.

For a brand, that last point is the whole value of the line. Ordering wax, jars and wicks separately and filling at home looks cheaper per unit until you count the labour, the pouring space, the failed pours and the storage. A finished-goods order moves all of that into the factory and leaves you with one landed cost per sellable unit.

It also keeps the brand story consistent. Because the wax and the fragrance are made in the same plant that fills the jar, the candle on the shelf and the story on the label are describing the same production run. If you are starting from the raw-material side, our OEM and private label page sets out how the wider programme runs.

What you decide, and what we do

The split is short enough to write down.

You decide:

  • The fragrance — a reference scent to match, or a brief with the notes you are aiming at.
  • The jar and the fill weight, or approval of the format we propose.
  • The label artwork, the box artwork and the finish.
  • The first order volume and, if you have one, the annual plan.

We do:

  • Develop and compound the fragrance to your brief.
  • Pour, wick and test the burn on the format you approve.
  • Fill, lid, label and box the units.
  • QC the batch in-house and ship it with the certificate of analysis for the lot.

The one item buyers most often forget to decide is the burn target. How many hours the candle should burn is not a label claim — it decides the wick, the fill weight and the fragrance load together, which is why it belongs in the first brief rather than in the last email.

The jar, the label and the box

The format in our listing photography is an amber glass jar with a metal screw lid, a kraft label and a printed gift box, with the box marked 7 oz / 200 g. Treat that as the photographed example rather than a fixed house specification: jar shape, glass colour, lid finish and fill weight are all quoted per project, and the box can be a retail gift box or a plain transit pack depending on where you sell.

Three practical choices sit inside this decision.

  • Glass colour. Clear glass shows the wax and any colour in it. Amber and frosted glass hide yellowing and soften the look of the wax, which is why they dominate premium shelf ranges.
  • Lid or no lid. A metal screw lid travels better and keeps the fragrance in before first use. A wooden or cork lid is a shelf decision, not a shipping one.
  • Box or wrap. A printed box costs money and freight volume but makes the unit giftable. If you sell online and ship in your own outer packaging, a wrap label plus a transit carton is leaner.

Tell us which channel the candle is for and we quote the packaging that fits it, because the same candle is a different order for a gift shop and for a marketplace listing.

Scent is what decides the repeat purchase

In a private label candle, the jar, the label and the box are all brand decisions a buyer judges once. The fragrance is the only part they judge twice, because it is the reason they come back.

That makes the fragrance step worth taking slowly. Send a reference — a competitor candle, a bottle of the oil you want to match, or a written profile with top, middle and base notes — and we compound the oil to it. Fragrance is usually one of the largest single cost lines in a scented candle, so the load you agree is also the number that moves your unit cost most. Settle it before the label artwork, not after.

How is this different from your candle making kits?

They are opposite ends of the same range, and buyers sometimes confuse them.

  • [Candle making kits](/products/candle-making-kits/) ship unassembled: portioned wax, wicks, a tin and instructions for the customer to pour at home. The product is the activity.
  • Private label scented candles ship finished and boxed, ready to sell or hand over. The product is the candle.

If your channel is retail or gifting, this is the line. If your channel is a workshop, a subscription box or a craft marketplace, the kit is the line. Both run through the same plant, so a brand can carry both without adding a supplier.

What should you check on the pre-production sample?

The pre-production sample is the reference the production run is matched against, and on a scented candle there are three things to check before you approve it.

  • The scent in the finished jar. A fragrance that reads clean in a vial can read differently once it is in wax and enclosed in glass with a lid on. Judge it cold, then judge it after a burn.
  • The label on the actual jar. Artwork approved on a screen and artwork printed on a curved surface are two different objects, particularly where the type is small.
  • The box and the fill weight together. The net weight printed on the box has to match what is actually in the jar.

Approving that sample is what locks the specification. Changing the wax, the fragrance or the jar after that point is a new pre-production sample and a new lead time, which is why the three checks belong before the approval rather than after it.

How do MOQ, samples and ordering work?

MOQ is set per project and quoted against your volume rather than as a blanket figure, and private label work is quoted on the specification you send. Free samples ship with the COA of their batch, and the order moves through a pre-production sample that you approve before the bulk run. Every batch is QC-checked in-house before shipment and leaves with its own COA — the guide to reading a wax COA explains which lines to check.

Send the RFQ with your fragrance brief, jar and fill weight, label plan and volume. You get a reply within 24 hours by WhatsApp or phone at +86 133 8403 0866, or by email to kris@posision.com.

A private label candle is your brand in physical form, so judge it on the sample. Send an RFQ with your scent brief and jar spec, or ask for the free sample with its batch COA.

FAQ

Private Label Scented Candles: buyer questions

Do the candles arrive with my brand on them?

Yes — that is the point of the line. They ship with your label, your box and your fragrance on a candle poured in our plant. The kraft label and gift box in our photography are a buyer-format example, not a fixed house brand.

Can you develop the fragrance?

Yes. Send a scent profile, a reference candle or a bottle of oil to match and we compound the fragrance with you. The scented pre-production sample is the version the bulk run is matched against.

What jar and fill weight do you offer?

Our photography shows an amber glass jar with a metal lid at 7 oz / 200 g. Jar shape, glass colour, lid finish and fill weight are quoted per project, so send the size you want and we quote it with the lid and the box included.

How is this different from your candle making kits?

They are opposite ends of the same range. Kits ship unassembled — wax, wicks and a tin for the customer to pour. This line ships finished and boxed, ready to sell. Both run through the same plant, so a brand can carry both without adding a supplier.

What MOQ and samples do you offer?

MOQ is set per project and quoted against your volume, and private label work is quoted on the specification you send. Free samples ship with the batch COA, and the order moves through a pre-production sample you approve before the bulk run.
